Working at your pace.

Feeling comfortable and safe means different things to different people.

That’s why I offer a variety of ways to share your story. We can do it the traditional therapy room set up, meet online or we can take a stroll along a peaceful stretch of the beautiful Northern Beaches – the choice is yours.

Therapy types & rates

In-person

Meeting in person in a comfortable, private space has many benefits and opens up various creative ways of working. My Balgowlah location is easy to access, close to public transport and free parking is available nearby.

60 mins | $140

Online

If for any reason therapy in person does not work for you, video call sessions are a great option. Online therapy works very well for many people and can be very effective, despite some of its limitations. All you need is smoothly running internet and some privacy for the duration of our session.

Walk & talk

While some people are more relaxed in a private room, others find it much easier to open up outdoors surrounded by nature and fresh air. Walk and talk therapy option is just what it sounds like. We take the session outside for a slow-paced walk, or find a quiet spot to sit if you prefer and the rest is just the same as in a therapy room.

How to start?

1.

Get in touch.

Once I have your details we will arrange a time to have a quick chat over the phone. We will talk about what you are looking for, I will answer any questions you might have and check availabilities.

2.

Book a session.

If you decide to book a session, I will send you a welcome pack with more detailed information and ask you to answer a few questions about yourself.

3.

Start your therapy.

It usually takes a couple of sessions to get a feel if working with me could be helpful to you. Sometimes finding the right therapist takes some shopping around – it’s OK if I’m not the right fit for you.

FAQs

  • Therapy usually works best when done on regular weekly basis, but if that does not work for you, we will find a more flexible approach that suits your needs.

  • Sessions are 50-60 minutes long. Usually there is a natural closure to what has been worked on around that time of the session. It is not a good idea to try and squeeze too much work into one session, even if you may sometimes feel like you still have a lot to say.

  • Therapy takes anywhere between a few months to a number of years. This depends on what is bringing you in, how well we connect and how deep you want our work to go.

  • We agree on what you are hoping to get out of seeing me at the beginning of our work together. We then review regularly how we are progressing, talk about what is working well for you and if anything needs to change. Regular reflections on our work give you a chance to appreciate how far you have come and reassess your needs as they may have changed. When you are ready to end therapy, it is a good idea to arrange a couple of sessions to allow for a healthy closure.

  • It is quite common for people to have a break from therapy even for a few years and then return. Often people leave therapy when they have worked through some of what was bringing them in, the issue feels resolved and they are doing well. Clients usually come back when there has been a challenging situation in their life or they become aware of a deeper level of their original issue and they feel ready to work on it. Being able to recognise that there is something more you want to work on with a therapist is a sign of strength and good self-awareness.

  • No, my services do not fall under the Medicare scheme (or your Mental Health Plan from your GP), only psychologists and some social workers work under the Medicare scheme and therefore get rebates.

With a psychotherapist/counsellor, there is no need for a GP referral and our sessions are not in any way limited. With current fees charged by most psychologists, you still need to pay a gap fee, which is approximately the same as the fees I charge.

  • Yes, depending on your health fund and your individual policy. I am a provider for counselling services with Medibank private, BUPA, AHM, ARHG and HCF.
